My career spans over three decades across sales, marketing, finance, and strategy consulting. I started as a Director of Marketing at a healthcare analytics company and went on to consult for Fortune 50 giants like Merck and sell healthcare services for companies such as Aetna and Cisco. Along the way, I consistently delivered results, excelling in both startups and established corporations.

But success in corporate life wasn’t enough—I wanted independence. That’s when I took my first leap into business ownership by purchasing a chili dog restaurant. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me the value of a hands-on approach and the importance of strong management.

From there, I ventured further, buying, growing, and selling multiple businesses, including a plush toy company and an online jewelry brand. These experiences have shaped my expertise, and today, I dedicate my time to helping aspiring business owners achieve their goals.

Climbing the Corporate Ladder

Fast forward to my early career, where everyone told me,
“EJ, you should work in corporate America—become a consultant, investment banker, or venture capitalist!”
So, I did just that. I dove into corporate finance, strategy consulting, and sales, earning my MBA and climbing the ladder. I worked for Fortune 50 companies, consistently achieving top performance. But something was missing. I kept asking myself,

Taking the Leap

A year later, while on vacation and feeling stuck in corporate life, I decided to make a change. That decision led me to explore business ownership.

My first step? Interviewing to become a Chick-fil-A owner-operator. While that path didn’t pan out, it opened the door to new possibilities.

Through a business broker, I found an opportunity: a chili dog franchise for sale. It was affordable, profitable, and exactly what I needed to make my leap. Within 24 hours, I was under contract. That venture became my ticket to financial freedom and my first taste of entrepreneurial success.

From Humble Beginnings

Let me take you back to where it all started. Imagine a 10-year-old kid with a paper route, flipping apartments, and selling candy at scout camp. That was me. Growing up in a large family meant I had to hustle if I wanted something, and those early days wired me to dream of building something of my own.

A Life-Changing Realization

A pivotal moment came when I met a successful entrepreneur who told me,
“You have great ideas, but I acted on mine.”

That one comment sparked a shift in my mindset. I realized I didn’t need to create the next Facebook to achieve success; I just needed to take action.
